Item# XA833MCPM

Available in sizes 3-0, 2-0, 0. This monofilament polydioxanone synthetic absorbable surgical suture is prepared from the polyester, poly (p-dioxanone). Comparable to PDS II®, a registered trademark of Ethicon®.

Specifications:

  • Length: 30in
  • Dyed: violet no. 2

Features:

Polydioxanone (PDO) exhibits:

  • Extended holding strength
  • Excellent handling, exceptional suppleness, and good knot security
  • Non-wicking, which helps reduce bacterial migration along suture line
  • This suture is particularly useful when the combination of an absorbable suture and extended wound support is desirable
  • FDA-approved D&C Violet No. 2 color for better visibility during surgery
  • For use with taper point needle NCT-1 37 mm 1/2 circle

Usages:

  • Plastic surgery
  • veterinary surgery

Indications:

  • Polydioxanone monofilament synthetic absorbable suture is indicated for use in soft tissue approximation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular and ophthalmic procedures
  • Polydioxanone suture is not indicated in adult cardiovascular tissue, microsurgery, and neural tissue

Actions:

  • Mono-Dox synthetic absorbable suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues, followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue
  • Progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of Mono-Dox sutures occurs by means of hydrolysis

Tensile Strength:

  • Subcutaneous tissue implantation studies in rats indicate Mono-Dox suture retains approximately 95% of initial tensile strength at 2 weeks, 80-85% at 4 weeks and 75% at 6 weeks post implantation

Absorption:

  • Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength without appreciable loss of mass
  • Absorption of Mono-Dox sutures is minimal until about the 60th day after implant and is essentially complete within 6-8 months

Sterilization:

  • Ethylene oxide
